Giza Pyramids Complex

The Giza Pyramids Complex is home to the three iconic pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure. Built around 2600 BCE, these pyramids served as monumental tombs for pharaohs. The complex also features the Great Sphinx and various smaller tombs and temples. It's one of the most famous and historically significant sites in the world, symbolizing the grandeur of ancient Egyptian civilization.

 

The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid, built around 2580-2560 BCE for Pharaoh Khufu, is the largest of the Giza Pyramids. Originally standing 481 feet tall, it was the tallest structure for over 3,800 years. Made of millions of limestone blocks, it's a marvel of ancient engineering and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

 

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx, located on the Giza Plateau, is a colossal limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, likely Pharaoh Khafre. Carved around 2500 BCE, it stands 240 feet long and 66 feet high. The Sphinx serves as a guardian of the Giza Pyramids and remains one of Egypt's most iconic and mysterious symbols.

 

The Valley Temple

The Valley Temple was used for the mummification and purification of pharaohs before burial. Built from large limestone blocks, it features impressive statues and carvings. The temple played a key role in ancient Egyptian funerary practices, providing a ceremonial space linked to the nearby pyramids.

Saqqara Step Pyramid

The Saqqara Step Pyramid, built around 2670 BCE for Pharaoh Djoser, is the world’s oldest monumental stone structure. Designed by the architect Imhotep, it consists of six stacked terraces, marking a key development in ancient Egyptian architecture and leading to the later construction of smooth-sided pyramids like those at Giza.

 

Memphis City

Memphis City, founded around 3100 BCE, was the ancient capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom. Located near Cairo, it was a major political and cultural center. Today, it’s an archaeological site featuring significant artifacts, including a colossal statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx.

 

Finally, we will drive you back to your hotel for the overnight.

The Egyptian Museum

Salah El Din Citadel

The Salah El Din Citadel was built in the 12th century by Salah El Din (Saladin) to protect against Crusader invasions. This massive fortress served as Egypt’s seat of government for centuries and features important landmarks.

 

Mohamed Ali Mosque

The Mohamed Ali Mosque, built between 1830 and 1848 in the Salah El Din Citadel, features Ottoman architecture with alabaster-covered walls, a grand dome, and tall minarets. It’s one of Cairo’s iconic landmarks, offering stunning views of the city, Continue to Coptic Cairo to visit

 

The Hanging Church

The Hanging Church, also known as Saint Virgin Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, is one of Cairo's oldest churches, dating back to the 3rd century. The church is renowned for its beautiful wooden ceiling, icons, and historical significance in Coptic Christianity.

 

Ben Ezra Synagogue

Ben Ezra Synagogue, one of Egypt's oldest, was originally a Coptic church before becoming a synagogue in the 9th century. It's famous for its Geniza, a collection of ancient Jewish manuscripts, making it a key site in Jewish and Egyptian history.

Abu Simbel Temple

Abu Simbel Temple, located in southern Egypt, was built by Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BCE. The complex features two massive rock temples with colossal statues of Ramses II at the entrance. The temple was relocated in the 1960s to prevent flooding from the Aswan High Dam.

The High Dam

The High Dam, located in Aswan, Egypt, was completed in 1970 to control the Nile River's flooding and provide hydroelectric power. It created Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes, and helped boost Egypt's agriculture and economy. The dam is a significant modern engineering achievement.

 

 Philae temple

Philae Temple, located on Agilkia Island near Aswan, was dedicated to the goddess Isis. Originally built in the Ptolemaic period, it was relocated to its current site in the 1960s to protect it from flooding caused by the Aswan High Dam. The temple is renowned for its beautiful columns, detailed reliefs, and significance in ancient Egyptian religion.

 

The Unfinished Obelisk

The Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan, is the largest known ancient obelisk, left incomplete in its quarry. Carved directly from bedrock, it would have stood at 137 feet tall and weighed about 1,200 tons. Cracks in the stone led to its abandonment.

Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple, is unique for its dual dedication to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. Built during the Ptolemaic period, the temple features symmetrical, mirror-image designs for each deity. It also includes a fascinating crocodile museum showcasing mummified crocodiles found nearby.

 

Edfu temple

Edfu Temple, is one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Egypt. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, it was built during the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BCE. The temple features impressive columns, detailed carvings, and scenes of Horus’s mythological battles.

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut Temple, was built around 1479-1458 BCE for Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs. It's a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture, honoring both Hatshepsut and the god Amun.

 

Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, built around 1350 BCE. Standing 60 feet tall, these statues once guarded the entrance to Amenhotep's mortuary temple near Luxor. Despite the temple being largely destroyed, the Colossi remain as iconic symbols of ancient Egyptian art and craftsmanship.

Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple, is one of the largest and most impressive temple complexes in ancient Egypt. Built and expanded over 2,000 years, starting around 2055 BCE, it was dedicated to the god Amun. The site features massive columns, obelisks, and statues, with the famous Hypo style Hall boasting 134 colossal columns. It's a remarkable testament to Egypt's religious and architectural achievements.

 

Luxor Temple

Luxor Temple, was built around 1400 BCE by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and expanded by Ramses II. Unlike other temples dedicated to gods, Luxor Temple was primarily a place for royal ceremonies, including the coronation of kings. Its impressive statues, columns, and detailed carvings make it a key site for understanding ancient Egyptian history and culture.

 

In the afternoon transfer you to Hurghada City on the Red Sea. From Luxor to Hurghada is about a 03 hour and half drive. Overnight in Hurghada.
